Finland: Our Donor Partner in Latin America and the Caribbean

One of the main areas supported by the Government of Finland’s development policy is poverty eradication through economically, socially and ecologically sustainable development. Under this priority focus, Finland is supporting several IFC initiatives in LAC, which help companies identify both risks and opportunities associated with climate change.  Under the Sustainable Business Advisory business line, Finland supports IFC’s work with a wind farm project in Mexico, and with the Aliança da Terra in the Brazilian Amazon.  In the latter, the Government of Finland co-funds a program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through change in land use practices.  Also, under the Access to Finance business line, Finland supports the design of a Sustainable Energy Finance Program in Peru and the Rural Clean Energy Program in LAC.
