Indonesia has huge potential in the renewable energy sector, specifically for geothermal, small hydropower, and biomass. The country could develop more than 150,000 megawatts of generated electricity, equivalent to the needs of two cities the size of Greater Jakarta. Nyoman Yogi, IFC Operations Officer for Access to Finance in Indonesia, discusses the opportunities for renewable energy and energy-efficiency projects, and the need to engage Indonesian commercial banks in financing these initiatives.
