About Us


The Global Corporate Governance Forum supports corporate governance reforms in emerging markets and developing countries. The Forum develops advanced knowledge and training products promoting good practices in corporate governance and facilitates capacity building of director training organizations engaged in implementing corporate governance reforms.

 

The Forum partners widely with international, regional and local institutions, and draws on the guidance of its global network of private sector advisors and academic research network.

 

The Forum is part of the IFC Corporate Governance Group, located in the Environment, Social and Governance Department. It is a donor-supported facility, co-founded in 1999 by the World Bank and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).  (Learn more about Forum's history.)

 

 

Our Work Program


 

The Forum has an extensive work program, based on the priorities defined in its charter. This new phase of activities (FY11-FY15) will build on the following strategic objectives:


 

  • Develop and disseminate cutting edge knowledge products that will expand significantly the Forum's global knowledge platform to provide enhanced support and access to international best practices in corporate governance.
  • Build the capacity of regional corporate governance centers and foster south-south co-operation. These centers will serve as a key distribution mechanism for the Forum's knowledge products and their local application.
  • Develop a monitoring and evaluation mechanism to support the global knowledge platform. M&E efforts will form an integral part of the Forum's effort to create a dynamic and relevant platform by assessing the structure, content, and effectiveness of the Forum's products, ensuring they remain relevant.

  • The work program of the Forum is executed, managed, and implemented by the Secretariat, which is the executive arm of the Forum. The Secretariat is also responsible for disbursing funding in accordance with the procedures and criteria agreed by the Steering Committee of Donors and Founders.
