IFC Advisory Services in Africa


To support private sector growth in sub Saharan Africa, IFC’s Advisory Services provide advice, problem solving, and training to companies, industries, governments, and individuals.

Our experience shows that businesses need more than financial investment to thrive—they flourish in a legislative environment that enables entrepreneurship, and benefit from advice on best business practices.

Our work in Africa includes advising national and local governments on how to improve the investment climate and strengthen basic infrastructure. We also help investment clients improve corporate governance and become more sustainable.

IFC Advisory Services is devoting more resources to promote gender equality, environmental sustainability, and the expansion of health and education services. Our advisory services teams are active across sub-Saharan Africa, with an increasing focus on the poorest countries and those affected by conflict.

Funding for advisory services projects comes from donor countries and partners, IFC, and client contributions.

Private Enterprise Partnership for Africa (PEP Africa)


Established in 2005, IFC PEP Africa works in partnership with multilateral agencies, governments, and the private sector to deliver programs and advisory services that improve the investment climate, mobilize private sector investment, and enhance the competitiveness of private enterprises in Africa. The success of PEP's programs would be impossible without the generous financial and technical support of IFC's donors and partners. Read more...



Conflict Affected States in Africa



IFC’s Conflict Affected States in Africa (CASA) Initiative, launched in 2008, is helping design and implement integrated strategies targeted to support economic recovery and growth in seven sub Saharan African countries: Burundi, Central African Republic, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and South Sudan. Read more...
