The Investment Climate business line works with governments, civil society, and private firms to foster business-friendly conditions for private sector investment and job creation. Current products include:
- Business Entry: Working with governments to streamline regulatory requirements to make it easier for entrepreneurs to enter the formal economy.
- Business Operations: Supporting the simplification of licensing, permitting, and business inspections in order to reduce the cost of compliance to operate a business.
- Trade Logistics: Assisting private firms in building efficient trade logistics systems and services, thus reducing the time and costs associated with trading goods and services.
- Doing Business and Municipal Scorecard Reports: The Doing Business Report provides objective measures of business regulations and their enforcement at the national-level, while the Municipal Scorecard measures the time and cost of complying with municipal-level business regulations. Both reports highlight regulatory bottlenecks and publicize successful simplification efforts.
- Doing Business Reform Advisory: Assisting governments design and implement reform agendas to improve their business environments as measured by the Doing Business indicators.
- Investment Policy and Promotion: Working with clients to establish an effective legal, policy, and institutional framework for investment and to leverage these improvements to attract new investment.
